Circulation and Wild Strawberries

January 11 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

This week draws us into the sacred rhythm of giving and receiving—what Ernest Holmes calls the Law of Circulation, and what Indigenous wisdom beautifully mirrors through the story of the wild strawberries, small embodiments of generosity, sweetness, and reciprocity.

Wild strawberries don’t hoard their goodness. They grow freely, abundantly, offering their sweetness to anyone who passes by—animals, insects, humans, the land itself. They ask nothing in return, yet everything benefits from their presence. They grow in clusters, reminding us that life’s gifts are rarely meant to be solitary. They come in season, teaching us that giving and receiving each have their time.

Holmes tells us that the universe is forever pouring itself through us, but it can only do so to the degree that we allow it. Many of us long for more good—more peace, more connection, more prosperity—but we hold our breath spiritually. We give cautiously or receive reluctantly. Yet life itself gives without hesitation. The Divine circulates endlessly, generously, joyfully.

This week asks: How might your life change if you gave and received as freely as wild strawberries grow? What sweetness might return to you if you loosened the tight places within your heart? Where might Spirit flow more easily if you stopped trying to “manage” the good and instead allowed it to move?

The affirmation, “I give and receive freely with an open heart,” becomes a practice of trust. Trust that giving does not diminish you. Trust that receiving does not burden others. Trust that the Universe knows how to restore balance in ways you cannot orchestrate.

Look for opportunities to give where you’ve been hesitant. Notice moments when life wants to give to you—through kindness, support, resources, encouragement—and practice saying yes. Let good circulate. Let sweetness flow.
