Living an empathetic life means aligning with the Divine Mind

November 29 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Embodying Empathy Every Day

Affirmation

I practice empathy in every action, word, and decision.

Reading:

When I sit with men in prison, I realize how similar we are. Given different circumstances, I could have easily ended up in their place. And if I can extend empathy for those in prison, I must also extend it to the prison guards. Life could have placed me in their shoes as well.

We often see ourselves as fundamentally different from those we disagree with or from people who commit acts we find incomprehensible. But the truth is, under different circumstances, we could all be capable of similar actions. The insight of nonviolence teaches us that we are not so different from others, even when their actions or beliefs seem foreign. Through my experiences and interactions with people from all walks of life, I’ve come to deeply understand that we share more in common than we might think.

Spiritual Point of View

Living an empathetic life means aligning with the Divine Mind in every moment. It’s not about thinking for others, but feeling with them—lifting, supporting, and connecting naturally as a part of Spirit. As Ernest Holmes reminds us, “You belong to the Universe… You are as much a part of it as the sun, the earth, and the air.” (This Thing Called You) Your empathy isn’t forced; it flows from your natural alignment with Infinite Life.

Spirituality isn’t just learning ideas, it’s living them. Embodied empathy is not about seeking approval or control but letting Grace guide your interactions. When your responses shift from reaction to presence, your decisions align with your highest truth. Empathy becomes a spiritual habit—living from the awareness of Oneness.

Wayne Dyer’s says: “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Empathy, for Dyer, is about shifting from ego to soul, from separation to unity, and responding with love and openness.
